Covid-19 vaccine has arrived for our 5-11 year old patients!!! We will begin scheduling as of this morning. Our plan is as follows:
We will schedule our 5-11 year-old patients for TWO “Covid shot only” visits, separated by three weeks. Available time slots will include before school, lunch hour, end of day, and Saturdays as needed. Once scheduled, you are encouraged to review the Pfizer Covid-19 Consent Form (printed and filled out would be much appreciated) before coming into the office. Following your child’s vaccine, please expect a fifteen minute period of observation.
Of note, in order to allow for efficient use of time, if you have questions or reservations about the vaccine, please contact us ahead of time for that discussion. Due to the unpredictable numbers of vaccines available, we will use our discretion as to whether the covid vaccine will be made available for routine well visits. If your child is sick or unable to attend a scheduled appointment time, please notify us 24 hours in advance. We will generate a waiting list for those “last minute” remaining doses.
We were contacted by Children’s Hospital ( www.chnola.org/covid-19-vaccine ) who will be offering vaccines to the community as well. Local pharmacies and schools are also working hard to provide vaccines to this younger group of patients. As always, we are available for ongoing questions. Please bear with us as we adjust to this additional, most welcomed “undertaking”!
